Thinking back to this time period, we were being told that Saddam Hussein - with Bin Laden - had been behind 911. Accepting that, tentatively, it made sense to have thought, "Gee, maybe too bad we didn't take out Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf war," since, if he had been removed, there would, therefore, have no 911.
A few month later, the "Saddam Hussein was involved with Osama Bin Laden story" lost credibility and "weapons of mass destruction" began to be pushed as a reason to attack Iraq.
This has to be put in context.
Step-on-all-of-us is only interested in playing "gotcha" games.
